MTV Movie and T.V Awards took place on Sunday, May 7, 2017. In addition to including television shows in their annual movie award program, this year also marked the first year a gender neutral award was given. The Best Actor in a Movie award, that went to Emma Watson for Beauty and the Beast, considered a field of both male and female performers rather than the traditional Best Actor and Best Actress categories. The award was presented by Asia Kate Dillion, who identifies as non-binary.
