Ramsey Junior High has a new G.A.T.E (Gifted and Talented Education) teacher. Amanda Allen has been teaching for 11 years at Sunnymede as a fourth-grade teacher. This will be her 12th year of teaching all together. She became a G.A.T.E teacher because she empathizes with students who do not find their other classes as challenging. She, herself, was a G.A.T.E student, as was her eldest son. She likes seeing the “light bulbs” go off in a student’s head when they connect the dots after trying really hard on a problem.

She received her bachelors from UAFS, her masters from Arkansas State, and she is also working on her Education Specialist degree at Arkansas State. She considers herself extremely organized and she works better under pressure. She has a 21 and a 4-year-old son. She’s very excited for the years to come and to challenge kids in new ways every year.
