History of Ramsey Junior High

Gabe Johnson

Ramsey Junior High School was founded in 1954. When it first opened, Ramsey had only six hundred-fifty students and twenty staff members; the principle was Harold Riedel. There were only thirty-six classrooms and very few class choices. Today, Ramsey has over nine hundred students, upgraded classrooms, and around fifty staff members.

Over the last sixty years, Ramsey has had four principles. The current principal, Amy Manley, is in her second year. This school was originally built to alleviate overcrowding in the local schools. Ramsey is the second oldest school beside Darby founded in January 1898.
