Rapper and producer Malcolm McCormick died on September 7. In a press statement, his family said,

“He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends, and fans,”

McCormick, better known by his stage name Mac Miller, began his career as a teenager in 2012, with the release of his first hit song “Loud”.

Miller was set to perform a string of concerts in October for his newly released album Swimming with the opening concert scheduled for the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

Miller’s death was due to an apparent overdose,  and he was pronounced dead when first responders reached his home.

“Mac was a hugely gifted and inspiring artist, with a pioneering spirit and a sense of humor that touched everyone he met,”

Said Tom Corson, co-chairman and COO of Warner Bros.
