The Golden Rule Clothes Closet is closing. The Golden Rule Clothes Closet is a non-profit organization where people who have recently experienced trauma I.E a natural disaster or a damaging fire are given necessary items to help them survive. Low-income families are also allowed to collect necessities. The only requirement in getting items from the Golden Rule Closet was having some sort of picture identification. The organization is closing its doors due to the lack of necessary funding. Clyde Chaney, the director and truck driver for Golden Rule, has stated that the closing of the doors is heartbreaking to him and his family. Chaney’s wife, Betty Rose Chaney, is the one to originally open up The Golden Rule Clothes Closet back in 1991. Mrs. Chaney died in 2016 at the age of 87. The Golden Rule facebook says that the organization is looking for charities to take over and keep the doors open, so there is always hope.
