At a simple little bar, The Borderline Bar and Grill, in Thousand Oaks, California on November 7, twelve people were shot and killed, including a Sheriff’s Sergeant. Twelve more were sent to the hospital with injuries. The bar was celebrating a country music college night when the gunman entered at approximately 11:20 PM. The shooter was identified as a 28-year-old former Marine by the name of Ian David Long. Long, who lived with his mother,  often visited the site of the shooting. Long fired at least 30 shots before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life. Investigations into his motive are still underway.
