Last Sunday, the LA Rams and New England Patriots played in Super Bowl LIII that was held in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The ratings for the game were at a 10 year low. The last time the ratings were this low was Super Bowl XLIII when it was the Saints vs. the Cardinals. It was a very defensive game with the score at 13 Patriots to 3 Rams. Most of the game the score held steady at 3 – 3 until the 4th quarter when Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski scored a touchdown. The Patriots Stephen Gostkowski then scored a field goal putting his team ahead at 13 and winning the game.

The game also broke many records. One was that it was the lowest scoring Super Bowl in history. That beat Super Bowl Vll record Dolphins 14 – Redskins 7. The game also had the first male cheerleaders to cheer at the Super Bowl. The Rams’ Quinton Peron and Napoleon Jinnies already made history when the became the first male cheerleaders ever to cheer in the NFL.

The halftime show included the band Maroon 5 with Travis Scott, Big Boi, and Spongebob Squarepants. Spongebob made an appearance in the halftime show before Travis Scott. Fans of the show have been trying to get the halftime creators to include a performance of “Sweet Victory” for years. Since the creator of Spongebob just died last year. Maroon 5 teased fans with a short clip of Spongebob in their Super Bowl announcement video which left fans excited and many were after Sunday’s performance.

Even though this year’s Super Bowl was considered by many to be a boring game, fans will surely tune in again next year to see what the biggest sporting event of the season holds for them.
