Wednesday, March 6, Jeopardy host, Alex Trebek, announced to the world that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Trebek was aware of the low survival rate of this type of cancer, but he stayed positive saying,

“Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working,”

Trebek joked that he couldn’t die because he still had three years left on his Jeopardy contract. He plans to fight the disease with the love and support of his friends, family, and fans. According to the American Cancer Society, nearly 57,000 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and of those 57,000 about 45,000 will die from the disease. In stage 4 pancreatic cancer, the cancer has spread to the liver, lungs, and bones.

Our thoughts and prayers are going out to the Trebek family, and we all hope that he beats pancreatic cancer.
