A large measles outbreak took place in Rockland County, New York just last year. 153 people have been infected since last October, 48 of those infections taking place this year. About 27% of children under the age of 18 are unvaccinated. If a child with the measles is found to be out in public, the parent(s) could face up to six months in jail or pay a $500 fine. There have been 333 reported cases of the measles in 15 states, across the nation.
