On the afternoon of Friday, March 29, President Donald Trump has threatened to close either the whole southern border or large sections of it if drastic steps are not made to decrease the amount of illegal immigration into the United States of America. Trump has said that “it could mean all trade.” And that, “We will close it for a long time. I am not kidding.”

Trump has threatened to close the border with Mexico before, most notable Thursday night in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This time, however, it seems like President Trump is more serious about his threat as he gave a timeline of how the closing of the border would occur.

“If Mexico doesn’t immediately stop ALL illegal immigration coming into the United States through our Southern Border, I will be CLOSING the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week,” Trump tweeted later. “This would be so easy for Mexico to do, but they just take our money and ‘talk.’”

The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, said that he does not want a confrontation with the U.S Government and that he is doing everything within his power to cease all illegal immigration into America. Trump has recently gone back on these statements saying he will give Mexico one year to comply with these demands.
