Internet famous cat Lil Bub died on December 1, 2019. The little cat had an extreme case of feline dwarfism, meaning that her limbs and jaw were smaller than normal. Because of this, Lil’ Bub couldn’t keep her tongue in her mouth, melting the hearts of 2.3 million Instagram users. She was born on June 21, 2011, and died when she was 8 years old.

She died “Abruptly without warning,” Mr. Bridavsky wrote on Instagram, “she spent her last night cheerful and full of love, laying on our bed with us. Please visit all of us in our dreams.”

Lil’ Bub was the runt of the litter and was the first cat diagnosed, at a very young age, with the very disease that killed her, osteoporosis. Lil’ Bub had been diagnosed with many, many birth defects at birth. She had been the subject of many fundraising campaigns for animals with special needs, raising $700,000. A fan on Twitter posted this; “You know what lil bub did that was really cool? She reminded us all that we’re a bunch of beautiful freaks and how special it is to be a beautiful freak.”
