Katherine Johnson dies at 101

     Katherine Johnson was a former NASA employee and a famous mathematician who calculated the trajectory for Alan Shepard’s Freedom 7 Mission in 1961. Johnson worked at NASA for 33 years.  Her life story can be found in the book ¨Hidden Figures” by Margot Lee Shetterly,  which gives  specific information about Johnson and the other women who worked with her at NASA.  The book was turned into an Oscar nominated motion picture in 2016. in 2015, Johnson received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barack Obama. She died Monday morning from her battle of brain cancer which sadly took her life.
