Due to the recent outbreak of the new corona virus, many schools nationwide in Japan have closed. These elementary, middle, and high schools will all be closed until late March. The Prime Minister of Japan asked 34,847 schools to close because if they continue school then there is a higher chance of the virus spreading faster. The northernmost main island of Hokkaido has had 54 confirmed cases of the corona virus and decided to close all 1,600 schools in their area.

The Prime Minister of Japan stated,

“This is to prioritize the health and safety of the children and take precautions to avoid the risk of possible large-scale infections for many children and teachers who gather and spend hours together every day.”

If this virus continues to grow then many other countries will be doing the same as Japan.
